Washington Chapter Awards and Honors

E.O. Blackman Outstanding Chapter Award

In 1978, Alpha Delta Phi International introduced the E.O. Blackman Outstanding Chapter Award, which recognizes the most outstanding chapter of Alpha Delta Phi International. The Washington Chapter won that award in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, and 1991.

Alpha Delta Phi International Convention

The Convention is Alpha Delta Phi International's supreme legislative body. It convenes to elect a Board of Governors, hear reports from the Governors, approve the International's budget, and address important issues that confront the fraternity as a whole. The first Convention was called in 1836, and since 1853, the Convention has been held every year, except during the Civil War, World War I, and World War II.

The Washington Chapter of Alpha Delta Phi hosted the Convention in 1935, 1954, 1980, and 1991.

Glen H. Southwick Outstanding Alumnus Award

In 1922, the Washington Chapter introduced the Glen H. Southwick Outstanding Alumnus Award, which recognizes an outstanding alumnus of the Washington Chapter who has made a particularly meaningful contribution to the fraternity. This is the highest honor that the Washington Chapter can bestow upon an alumnus, and the award has been granted to only 11 alumni.

Lloyd George Outstanding Senior Award

In 1966, the Washington Chapter introduced the Lloyd George Outstanding Senior Award, which recognizes the most outstanding senior as voted by the members of the senior class.

Worrall Wilson Freshman Scholarship Award

In 1936, the Washington Chapter introduced the Worrall Wilson Freshman Scholarship Award, which recognizes the freshman with the top cumulative grade-point average.
